The Apponale Tower in Riva del Garda
The Apponale Tower is among the symbols of Riva del Garda, and dominates the historic center from its 34-meter height. It can be admired and photographed from the square below, or from further away, from the lakeside cycle path where you can see the coast of this magnificent Alpine fjord. At the top of the tower you can see the Anzolim de la Tor, a gold-covered weathervane that reflects the rays of the sun. The Apponale Tower is also a magnificent observation point to photograph the lake: you just need to climb 165 steps to the top!
At the Bastione with (or without!) lift
You can climb up high with no effort to reach one of the most instagrammable places in Riva del Garda. Walking through the historic center, you’ll definitely notice the Venetian Bastion that watches over the city: well, with the new inclined panoramic lift it is possible to reach this 16th-century tower in just 3 minutes, with a wonderful view from the cabin. Easy, fast, surprising. Of course you can also get there on foot, with an easy walk.
The summit of Monte Brione
Monte Brione is not well known for its height: it’s not really a mountain but a hill that only reaches 376 meters above sea level, separating Riva del Garda from Linfano and Torbole, where the Sarca flows into the lake. However, this hill is a real treasure for locals and tourists. Why? For many reasons: because it hosts over 500 species of flowers and plants, including broom, holm oak and more than 20 species of orchids; because the summit is easy to reach, even for children; because along the route you come across the remains of Austro-Hungarian fortifications; and again, because from the top you can enjoy a simply magnificent panorama of Lake Garda. From up here it really looks like you're admiring a fjord, especially at sunset!
The Castle of Arco
Let’s move from Riva del Garda to Arco, less than 5 kilometers from Oleeva. This small city with an Art Nouveau atmosphere is famous for its gardens, its olive trees and especially for the spectacular Castle, which can be reached with a 20-minute walk from the historic center. However, you’ll definitely take a little more time on this route, because with every step the scenery changes, as you gradually ascend the rock spur!
The Fortino of Nago
