Garda Trentino is a place to discover, to cycle, to sail, to savour and yes, even to drink - you should know that our territory is a very well known and appreciated wine producing region, because of its unique microclimate.
In Riva del Garda, the lake meets the mountains, with fresh winds and strong variations in temperature that create fresh, structured, fragrant and bold wines.
What are the most interesting wines you should absolutely try during your Lake Garda holiday? It’s very easy - you can find them in our Honesty Bar, with a great selection of local bottles always at hand!
Our local wineries
Around Riva del Garda you can find several interesting wineries, many of which received awards. Some examples are the wineries in the nearby Valle dei Laghi, famous for its Vino Santo - among the best known is certainly Cantina Toblino, bringing together local wine producers since 1960. The list could be even longer, for example including Cantina Pisoni, whose history dates back to 1852.
Then there are the wineries in Riva del Garda, such as Cantina Comai, which has carried on the Garda winemaking tradition for four generations; or Cantina Furletti, more recently established but with an extremely interesting selection, innovative while respecting tradition.
Let’s not forget that the other shores of Lake Garda also are also known for their wine production - an example is the Lugana area, represented in our Honesty Bar by Cantina Tommasi.
Wines you should try
You certainly can't spend a holiday in Garda Trentino without trying Trentodoc, our famous mountain sparkling wine, produced following the traditional method and using only Trentino grapes. Trentodoc is made by 67 different producers, for a total of 220 bottles.
From sparkling wine to still white wines, the best known of which in the Valle dei Laghi is Nosiola, the only native white grape from Trentino. The wine from its harvest is fruity, dry, and pleasantly fresh. In addition to Nosiola, wineries in the area offer fine bottles of Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio and Muller Thurgau.
Those who want to discover the winemaking tradition of Trentino should also try Teroldego, the prince of Trentino wines, a red wine that was mentioned as early as 1300. The ideal home of this vine is the Piana Rotaliana, just north of Trento, but each of the Trentino valleys produces their own Teroldego, always characterized by the scent of wild blackberry, with fragrances of berries and violets.
A Trentino wine tasting cannot be complete without trying a Rebo, a red wine created in San Michele all’Adige a century ago, or other typical bottles of the area, from Marzemino to Merlot, to Cabernet Sauvignon.
Enjoy your aperitivo, our Honesty Bar is waiting for you!
